Rolls should keep their shape well and not fall apart. The desired portion of rice should be thoroughly washed and then boiled.
After that you need to cook the vinegar mixture. It is prepared simply: 5 tablespoons of rice vinegar are poured into a measuring cup, 2 tablespoons of sugar and one teaspoon of salt are added to them. All this must be mixed with rice. Before you start cooking the rolls, you need to let the rice cool.
Rolls can be cooked with various fillings. The most popular, of course, fish. Usually use smoked or salted salmon, tuna. You can also cook rolls with eel, shrimp, scallops. In addition, as a filling, avocados, cucumbers, cheese are used.
For making rolls you will need a bamboo mat. If desired, it can be covered with cling film.
You need to take a sheet of nori of the right size, put it on the mat with the shiny side down.Dampen your hands with rice vinegar and evenly spread a handful of rice over the seaweed, leaving a free edge of 1-2 cm. Then lay out the filling along the edge. Now you need to twist the mat, starting from the near edge with the filling. The rolled mat must be compressed. After that, gently unfold the mat and lay out the roll on a flat surface. Now it can be cut into six pieces.
You can also make rice rolls out. They are called Uramaki. They are prepared in the same way as ordinary rolls, but the algae sheet must be turned rice down. The filling is laid out on the sheet itself Nori. Then roll is twisted with a bamboo mat. Then everything is simple, you need to expand the mat and remove the cling film. Roll is cut into six parts. You can decorate the rolls with flying fish roe, sesame.
