Rating Associated Press has compiled a survey of journalists from leading US media.
The first place in the ranking took the death of pop king Michael Jackson. He died suddenly at the age of 50. During the preliminary investigation, which took several weeks, it was established that Jackson’s death was violent - the singer died from an overdose of drugs. The farewell ceremony with Jackson, held at the stadium in Los Angeles, was attended by tens of thousands of people, millions more viewers around the world watched TV.
The following are the demise of the oldest American journalist Walter Cronkite; recognition of the lead David Letterman in adultery; the beating of the singer Rihanna by her boyfriend Chris Brown on the eve of the Grammy Awards; escapade rapper Kanye West at the MTV Video Music Awards. The eighth place is the appearance of video broadcasts on the Internet, the ninth place is the cessation of the existence of a duet of TV presenters John and Kate Gosselin. And, finally, closes the top ten posthumous awarding "Oscar".
